Service of Process
What Is Service of Process?
Service of Process is the legal procedure for delivering official court documents to a person or business involved in a lawsuit or legal matter. This ensures that all parties are properly notified and have the opportunity to respond — a right protected by the U.S. Constitution under due process.
These documents may include:
Summons & Complaints
Subpoenas
Divorce Papers
Eviction Notices
Restraining Orders
Small Claims Documents
Wage Garnishments, Bank Levies, and more
In California, these papers must be delivered by someone not involved in the case — which is where a registered process server comes in. Once delivered, we provide a Proof of Service (also called a declaration or affidavit of service), which confirms that the documents were properly served in accordance with the law.
At Statehouse First Serve LLC, we handle every serve with accuracy, urgency, and full legal compliance — whether it's a standard timeline or a same-day emergency.
